Chron:This time, the word was no worse than expected, which these days with the Rockets qualifies as relatively good news.
An MRI on Tracy McGrady's aching back Monday showed no structural damage. Still, the severe back spasms that felled him as the first half ended Sunday will keep him out of the Rockets' back-to-back tonight at Charlotte and Wednesday at home against Sacramento.
McGrady is scheduled to be examined again Friday and is almost certain to miss time beyond that. But given the unrelenting misfortune of the Rockets' season, the news could have been worse.
"We keep having unfortunate things happen to us with injuries and everything, but we're just trying to stick with it and keep our heads high and play as hard as we can," guard Luther Head said. "We don't have a lot to work with, so effort is going to have a lot to do with us winning. We have to play as hard as we can so we can get some wins."
