Link:Pau Gasol showed Saturday why the Bulls were interested in trading for him before the deadline last month. The 7-foot, 260-pound Spaniard finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and five blocked shots.
Even though the teams couldn't come to an agreement, Gasol said he liked the idea of joining the Bulls.
''Absolutely,'' he said. ''The Bulls are a very good team, very talented. They have very good options to move forward and become a dominant team in the East.
''They're a young team, and they have the right pieces. I just think they need somebody in there that provides the scoring and allows them to control the tempo of the game a little better, especially down the stretch.''
The Bulls could consider Gasol again if he asks the Grizzlies -- who are up for sale -- to move him this summer.
''I'm going to see how things turn out to be here in Memphis first and see how the question marks are answered and resolved,'' Gasol said. ''Then I'm going to play my cards.''
The Bulls also might consider Gasol's brother, Marc, a 7-1, 280-pounder who could be a first-round draft pick. He is averaging 10.7 points and 5.8 rebounds for Girona in the Spanish League.
''I would love for my brother to get drafted,'' Gasol said. ''It would be good for him to go to a big city like Chicago. I wish he could play with me.
''He's bigger. He's more of a banger, more of a rebounder. Very, very intense. Not as quick, not as athletic. Definitely a different kind of player.''
