OregonLive:Forward Darius Miles likely will have surgery on his injured right knee, meaning the Trail Blazers will be without their starting small forward and his 18.2 points per game for at least a few weeks.
Miles saw a specialist in Chicago on Wednesday after magnetic resonance imaging administered by team doctors on Sunday showed possible cartilage damage in the knee, which has bothered him all season. He missed his third game in a row on Wednesday.
The date of the surgery had not been finalized on Wednesday, and general manager John Nash said team would make a more definitive announcement today.
"We probably won't know how long he'll be out until after the surgery," Blazers coach Nate McMillan said. "The doctor in Chicago saw something similar to what our doctor saw."
