denverpost:Carmelo Anthony's friends and family in Baltimore needed just one word to burst into joy.
"Everybody could barely hear us, but they heard the word 'max.' That's all it really took," said Anthony's agent, Calvin Andrews.
That word represents a five-year extension worth about $79 million for Anthony, the small forward who is now locked in with the Nuggets through 2012. He has one year left on his rookie deal, at $4.7 million, before receiving a friendly raise up to about $13 million in 2007-08. The exact terms will be worked out once the NBA announces what the maximum extension can be.
