Star-telegram:They won't be shopping for a starter. Marquis Daniels has taken Christie's spot on the first team, and the Mavs appear better for it.
Daniels has averaged 12 points and 4.7 assists in the last three games, compared with Christie's season averages of 3.7 points and 2.0 assists. And Daniels, 24, is 11 years younger than Christie.
Searching for a backup shooting guard at the NBA minimum salary -- the Mavs don't have any salary exceptions and Christie's retirement won't free up any extra money -- could take the team in several different directions.
While the pool of unsigned free agents isn't swimming with talent, there are some intriguing names out there, such as Wesley Person, Casey Jacobsen, Rodney White and Glenn Robinson.
For those interested in Latrell Sprewell, both Cuban and Johnson have shot that suggestion down.

@ another team rejecting Sprewell. Marquis Daniels will fit the scene pretty well. He can play D and put up some good numbers.
