RealGM:The NBA trade season has been in full swing for two weeks now, but the Blazers' activity has been quieter than expected. And it may stay that way.
General manager John Nash said the organization is continuing to listen to proposals, but it isn't feeling pressure to make changes.
If the Blazers were making a run at the playoffs, a trade might be more likely in order to add a final piece to bolster the roster. But Nash said team officials have prepared themselves for a season of youthful inconsistency, so they are not as motivated to make a trade. Because the team has restricted itself to acquiring young players or veterans with expiring contracts, the available deals likely wouldn't make a significant impact.
"I think we're less likely to make a trade this year than in my previous two years," Nash said. "I think what we recognize is we've got a couple veteran players who might be able to help contending teams, but we're not anxious to rid ourselves of them. ... I think for us a trade would be more likely after the season as we approach the draft."
