I've got some trade ideas. I am a Laker fan, but living in NY I watch a lot of the Knicks games on MSG. If I was GM of the Knicks, I would trade a lot of the talent, for cap relief ASAP. Just my route, some people may not like it. ]

Knicks Lose: Steve Francis / Eddy Curry / Future 2nd
Blazers Lose: Theo Ratliff / Sebastian Telfair

Knicks Lose: Maurice Taylor / Quentin Richardson / Future 1st
Grizzlies Lose: Eddie Jones / Re-signed Lorenzen Wright /

Knicks Lose: Marbury / David Lee / Nate Robinson
Hawks Lose: Al Harrington / Tyronn Lue

Knicks have a starting lineup of Telfair/Crawford/Jones/Wright/Ratliff.
In two years Ratliff/Jones/Jalen Rose all come off the books. They eliminated all their high contracts like Marbury/Richardson/Taylor/Francis. They got some talent in return. Then in another year or two, they could make a big splash in free agency. Hopefully by then Telfair and Frye will have developed. Then, along with Harrington, the Knicks have a decent team again.

I can see where you're going by dumping the bad contracts but giving up the rooks is a no no. They proved they can be a factor and you just don't give up young prospects like them.
