What a game, there was no defense to start but the Knicks were up tempo and really on their guys in the 4th, especially Balkman. That guy is all hustle, he uses it to make up for a lot of things. Lee, of course, did his thing once again. The fact that we were down by 10 at the end of the 3rd and ended up outscoring the Nuggets 37-20 in the 4th to win by 7 is big, especially because AI went on a tear at one point in the game and we went down by double figures a couple of times, including 15 at one point in the first half. But it can't be overlooked that we still need to work on consistent defense, and free throws, which both teams struggled at. Here's the stat line for the Knicks:
Marbury - 21 points 9 assists. He hit some big three's when we needed it and took it hard to the rim when we were mounting comebacks. He played a great game.
Crawford - 25 points 8 assists 5 rebounds. JCraw has just been on through the first 3 games of the season. He hit plenty of timely shots for us tonight and got another nicee total for assists, but the 5 rebounds impresses me a lot too. He normally gets 2-3.
Curry - 24 points 8 rebounds. Eddy started out a bit rough, but a lot of the Knicks did, and he played huge in the 4th quarter. His chemistry with JCraw is as always fantastic and he seems to be running a lot better right now. He is going hard at the rim, going up strong, and with confidence.
Randolph - 22 points 17 rebounds. What more can you say? Was just a machine, and I love the fact that he isn't afriad to call for the ball in big situations and when he really wants it. He did that a couple times in the 4th, and delivered. And 17 rebounds, that speaks for itself.
Balkman - 11 points 4 rebounds 3 blocks. If they had a stat for hustle and game changing, this guy would've been off the score sheet. He is the reason this game turned around, and I was thrilled at how he kept Carmelo in check and took him almost fully out of the game.
David Lee - 9 points 7 rebounds. Same old D-Lee, came into the game with Balkman at the same time and was also a reason we stormed back.
I think it should be noted that Isiah only played 8 guys tonight, and he seems to be sticking to a short rotation. So far, I like what I see, but its only 3 games into the season. Still, great win for us at the Garden
