Knicks finish home slate against Bobcats
Preview:Charlotte (24-56) at New York (22-58) 7:30 pm EDT
NEW YORK (Ticker) - Fans of the New York Knicks will have one more chance to see one of the worst teams in franchise history when they host the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday.
The Knicks need a win in their final two games to avoid their worst season since the NBA enacted an 82-game schedule for the 1967-68 season. They are just one game better than the Portland Trail Blazers, who own the worst mark in the NBA.
New York lost its fourth straight game Sunday with a 103-97 setback at Detroit that was not as close as the final score would indicate. With Herb Williams at the helm in place of ailing coach Larry Brown and a host of players out with various injuries, the Knicks never threatened after being outscored, 40-18, in the first quarter.
The Bobcats have assured themselves of not finishing with the worst record in the league by winning their last two games. Primoz Brezec scored 18 points and rookie Raymond Felton had 16 and 13 assists in a 92-91 overtime victory against Indiana on Saturday.
