NEW YORK -- The Knicks’ Stephon Marbury said he received permission from head coach Isiah Thomas to leave the team, contradicting reports that the star guard left because he was upset at learning he would not be in the starting lineup Tuesday night.

Marbury missed the Knicks shoot-around Tuesday in Phoenix.

"I have one thing to say, and that's I got permission to leave. I would never leave my team on my own," Marbury said to WNBC's Bruce Beck.

"It was said that I just left, which was not the truth," Marbury said. "I got permission from Isiah."

Thomas said he's uncertain whether the guard will show up for Tuesday’s game against the Suns.

When asked why Marbury went missing, Thomas called it an "in-house matter" that will remain in house.

It seems as though the Starbury days might be coming to an abrupt end....this really came out of no where. I haven't heard any rumblings, and I don't see how anything can be made out of the first 5 games of a new season, so yeah...wierd.

From last years disappointing season to the Isiah trial case to Marbury's crazy interviews to a disappointing season start and now this. It's getting harder and harder to deal with this drama, this team needs a complete makeover asap.

Here we go again...this team will always be in the light of drama. Why can't we just focus on winning. I'm sick of this :mad1:
