nypost:-- Although Stephon Marbury hasn't played during the Knicks' last three losses, he is still making a contribution, according to rookie guard Nate Robinson.
"When I'm sitting with Steph on the bench, he's always trying to teach guys things and he's trying to help me," Robinson said. "With me, he's trying to get me to see things better and make better decisions with the ball. He has more of a chance to do that now that he's not playing."
Marbury's teaching acumen aside, the Knicks need the point guard's skills on the court rather than any lessons he may be bestowing while he's off it with a sprained left shoulder.
Coach Larry Brown said before Saturday night's loss to the Hornets at the Garden that he wasn't sure if Robinson would ever be able to play the point guard position or whether "it's in his best interest."
But Robinson sounded confident after scoring 13 points in 17 minutes in the loss that he could still play there.
"I've been learning a lot lately," Robinson said. "Not just from Stephon, but from [New Orleans'] Chris [Paul], [Detroit's] Chauncey [Billups] about how to run a team."
Unfortunately for the Knicks, while Robinson is learning, the Knicks are losing. Marbury said he would be able to return in time for Wednesday's game against Sacramento and forward Antonio Davis is expected to return to practice today.
