Larry and Isiah have eyes on Tyrus Thomas

Didn't know if to post it here or NBA Draft thread so I'll just post it here for more people to see it.

March 24, 2006 -- The Knicks traded their own lottery pick, which could be No. 1 overall. However, if the season ended today, they still would have the 24th and 29th selections in the NBA Draft.
Larry Brown has hinted he could foresee the Knicks packaging Denver's and San Antonio's first-rounders with an expiring contract (Maurice Taylor) to move up.

With the lottery weak, teams might want to fall back to get an extra pick. One mid-lottery selection the Knicks have interest in is LSU's 6-9 athletic shot-blocking forward Tyrus Thomas, who faced Duke last night in the Sweet 16.

In fact, Brown has told confidants he thinks Thomas should be considered for the No. 1 pick, though most scouts see the freshman as mid-to-late-lottery choice. Brown is on record saying he'd rather have Eddy Curry than either of the top players mentioned for No. 1, Adam Morrison or J.J. Redick.

I can see Tyrus as Larry's kind of player," one league executive said. "He plays extremely hard, very athletic, rebounds, blocks shots."

If the Knicks use their picks, they could go for a rugged rebounding power forward to fill their toughness need. Florida's Al Horford, UConn's Hilton Armstrong and BC's Craig Smith are projected in the 20-to-30 range.

Others still playing who are projected as late first-rounders include Villanova guards Randy Foye and Allen Ray, West Virginia's Mike Gansey and UConn's Rashad Anderson.

NY Post

Looks like there interested in Tyrus Thomas plays for LSU.

Big leaper for Big men. He loves to do it. Plyas like if he was taller. Only 6-9. Excellent passer for his height. Goog jump shot, Runs the floor well . plays with energy and haves fun. He still needs to gain more weight. That's all I got dont watch LSU games that much.Freshman, so he is still very yound to. NBAdraft.net has him compared to Kenyon Martin

I don't see him slipping to the late 1st round.

If I'm Isiah doesn't use those two picks to move up in the 1st, he's making a huge mistake. If they can manage a top 10 pick, they have something to work with.

I don't see Ty being a #1 pick, not sure why Larry thinks he could be. Tyrus is a good player (at best: K-Mart; worst: Swift or Hakim Warrick), but certainly won't be a top 5 pick.

Tyrus is proabably going to be a lottery pick based on his athletic abilities alone from the early looks of it.

Kevin Pittsnogle may be a more likely pick -- stretches the floor and has the body to bang inside.

But from now until draft time, players are going to rise and fall on the big board, so we'll see.

LB wants Isiah to move up in the draft. Since we have two picks in the first round (24th and 29th), plus an expiring contract in Taylor, we can maybe package to move up.
