Frye Out With Ankle Injury

Frye Out With Ankle Injury

NEW YORK (AP) -- Knicks forward Channing Frye will miss three to six weeks after spraining his left ankle during the second quarter of New York's 106-95 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.

The first-round pick in last year's NBA draft attempted to block P.J Brown's shot and landed on the back of Brown's shoe with 9:41 left in the first half.

"It swelled up pretty bad but I will be all right," Frye said. "I am a pretty healthy guy, so hopefully I will be back before that. It is just a sprain. I just have to take care of myself and support the team."

Frye grimaced in pain and was helped off the court by his teammates. X-rays were negative, but Frye did not return to play.

The injury further weakens an already depleted Knicks frontcourt. Forward Quentin Richardson strained his left hamstring in the closing seconds of the first half Saturday, did not return and is day-to-day. Also, forward Jared Jeffries is still out with a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist.

"Very concerned," coach Isiah Thomas said. "We're already injured with Jeffries, and to have Richardson go down and to have Frye go down, it basically wiped out a good portion of our team. We'll find a way to fight, to scratch."

Terrible loss. He was struggling but seem to begin to catch on with what we know he is use to doing and then this. It's not looking good at all for NY right now... :bang:

Tough loss, Hopefully David Lee can step it up, and play good until Frye comes back.
